A playground for nature lovers-and city folk.

Just 20 minutes from downtown Austin and a stone’s throw from McKinney Roughs Nature Park, Lost Pines is the quintessential playground for nature lovers and city explorers alike. Here are a few tips for a leisurely afternoon or day trip—all within an hour of the resort!

MCKINNEY ROUGHS NATURE PARK

Right next door to Lost Pines, McKinney Roughs Nature Park is the ultimate outdoor playground for kids and adults. Hike, jog, or bike through 18 miles of scenic trails with ample wildlife-watching opportunities, get your adrenaline pumping on one of the guided UTV tours, or climb a 40-foot rock wall. You can even raft down the Colorado River or soar through the forest on the only canopy dual zip line in Texas! Entry day passes are just $5 for adults, $2 for seniors and disabled, and free for children 12 and under.

AUSTIN

With its world-class entertainment, vibrant art and culture, inspiring cuisine, and stunning outdoor experiences, Austin lets you create a soundtrack all your own. Years ago, many people thought of Austin as primarily a music town (in addition to being home to the University of Texas and serving as the state capital, that is), but Austin is also home to a wonderful ballet, one-of-a-kind shopping, and beautiful outdoor spaces. You can just as easily spend your morning paddling the lake as you can strolling through a celebrated museum. Don’t worry if you can’t fit everything in—just come back and visit us again!
